Take Me Out To The Ball Game ~

Spend better part of the day cleaning & computering & a little dreaming of weather co-operating for our 1st of season Brooklyn Cyclone baseball game this evening. Shall see soon enough if we hear "play ball!" and feel the ocean breeze this evening or another night.

In this job search adventure I'm learning more financial products than I ever thought I would be! Today I studied derivative related life insurance products. And went to a networking event the other night where I spent 2 blissful hours catching up with a derivative buddy of mine named Mary.

Now I'm getting ready for our AMC Wilderness 1st aid course this weekend! Always wanted to have this nifty training in my back pocket (will never need to use it - but just to have it) for our wilderness adventures :)

The Big Short- fascinating read

Wow, just finishing up great book called "The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine" by Michael Lewis. While I have been in the banking industry for many years and have experienced market ups & downs, especially in high risk arena of derivatves, from bankruptcies of companies, LTCM/Amaranth to countries, Russia/Iceland, the '08 capital meltdown was the mother of them all. Having had an "inside view" by working at Bear I still find it fascinating in discovering and learning about the facts of the highly leverage speculative positions taken on, loans made to & taken out by folk with little or no credit and unaccounted market movements not taken into considration in risk models or by rating agencies. There's a ton of info gained from what happened and working towards on profitable and sound directions for the banking industry is a passion of mine.
